About Notebook Generator

Notebook Generator is a free tool for designing notebooks you print and bind yourself: lined notebooks, dot grid journals, dated planners, travel journals, study notebooks and refills for the covers you already own.

What it does

  • Combine more than 40 page templates and 5 cover designs in one notebook, page by page.
  • Use exact physical sizes, from Traveler’s Notebook Passport to A4, or any custom size.
  • Print dates, month and weekday names in 12 languages, with the first day of the week you prefer.
  • Download a print-ready booklet PDF that is already arranged for double-sided printing and folding, or a reading-order PDF for tablets.
  • Calibrate your printer so sizes are exact and the backs of pages line up with the fronts.

How it works

Everything happens in your browser. Pages are drawn by the same layout engine for the on-screen preview and for the PDF, so what you see is what prints. PDFs are generated on your device with open-source libraries; your notebooks are stored in your browser’s local storage. There is no account and no server that receives your designs.

Free to use

All features are free. The site may show clearly labelled advertising in the future to cover hosting costs; ads are never shown inside the Notebook Maker and never in your PDFs.

Fonts and credits

Printed pages use Noto Sans, Noto Sans CJK (Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Japanese and Korean subsets) and Lora, all under the SIL Open Font License. The interface uses Inter and Fraunces, also under the SIL Open Font License. PDFs are created with pdf-lib and checked with PDF.js.
